A family from our church had us over for "once" (OWN-say) yesterday evening. "Once" is Spanish for "eleven" and it is the name of the light evening meal (bread, cheese, meat, avocado, jam...) that Chileans typically eat around 6pm or 7pm. Nobody really knows why the evening meal is called "eleven" but there are some good stories. Chileans eat their larger, hot meal during the day. And I thought it was hard to pack school lunches every day when it is just sandwiches!
